If a tooth is affected by caries and the bacterial contamination in the caries spreads into the pulp cavity, it may cause an inflammation and subsequently also a dental pulp necrosis. In addition, there is a risk that the infection may penetrate through the tooth root point, which leads to further complications. The specialization dealing with root canal and periapical lesion treatment (dental sacs) is called endodoncy. The main purpose is perfect opening, widening and filling of the root canal. The endodontic treatment itself is always accompanied by an X-ray examination of the tooth. A well-performed endodontic treatment may be the only way to preserve the tooth in the oral cavity and requires a high-quality work of the dentist in cooperation with the patient.

Prosthetic dentistry is a reconstruction of dental field, which deals with replacement of damaged or lost teeth. There are many modern prosthetic materials available – composition and modelling pastes, metals, artificial resin and ceramic materials. The field has been developing towards application of such procedures that enable to perform as many operations outside the mouth of a patient as possible, i.e. on a model, through „indirect procedure”. Another trend is solving all teeth defects by means of fixed dentures using implants as pillars for future fixed dentures. In our laboratory we produce all types of dentures, i.e. crowns, bridges, removable partial or full dentures and prepare special operations such as retractile joints, hybrid dentures and glass pillars.

The possibilities of the specialization are extended by close cooperation with a gnathic surgeon who helps to solve more difficult defects.

Gingiva and periodontium care is a natural part of dentistry. Periodontology studies pathological processes which damage tissues around a tooth; it also deals with buccal mucosa diseases.Through its professional issues it has reached the same level of importance as the treatment of dental caries. This is given by the fact that periodontium diseases lead to the loss of almost the same proportion of teeth as in the case of caries and its complications. We emphasise preventive measures, but we also perform preservative treatment and inevitable periodontal operations in the case of a higher degree of periodontal damage. We perform operations that include an insertion of materials which help to replace the damaged bone. We have not concluded any contracts with health insurance companies for the periodontal operations, so we require a direct payment for such treatment.
